Weekend Roundup: Cherry Blossom Edition
I wanna be, where the people are
The blossoms are in PEAK BLOOM, PEOPLE! It's time to join the hype and get your butts to the District! While you're here, check out some of my favorite spots for dranks and snacks! Take me along on your cherry blossom culinary adventures by using #hangrydistrict! xoxo
Coffee Time
On your way into the district, make a stop in Takoma Park, MD at La Mano Coffee Bar for some fantastic blends of caffeine and tasty breakfast treats. From their site:
La Mano Coffee Bar is proud to partner with Ceremony Coffee Roasters, supplier of whole beans (single-origin and blends), that have been sourced responsibly from coffee farms from around the world and craft-roasted at their facility and training center in nearby Annapolis, MD.
Our selection of sweet and savory baked goods and other fare are handmade using primary ingredients that are sourced from businesses that share our commitment to using sustainable and socially conscious methods of production for dairy, meat, and vegetables whenever possible. You can find a list of of some of our preferred partners here.
Some of my other local coffee faves:
Try to support local and resist the temptation to go to Starbucks!
DRINKKKKK
Head to El Rey on U St. for a festive cherry blossom drink - the San Valentino. Crafted by General Manager, Roger, this chocolate covered strawberry inspired cocktail is refreshing, a little sweet and, surprise - a little heat! The Mexican beer garden is a lovely place to enjoy the weather, while enjoying tacos and tequila.
Dacha Beer Garden is a sprawling patio with family style tables, cheerful bartenders and a wide variety of snacks for maximum beer consumption!
Get fancy with it by heading to the Off the Record bar in the Hay Adams hotel. I got the booziest Old Fashioned of all time - one drink is all you need. I also noshed on some delicious pork belly steam buns. Yes please.
Eat!
Stop into Olazzo - either in Bethesda or Silver Spring - for some DELICIOUS homemade pasta, fun atmosphere and smiling service. I love to feed my pasta HANGER at Olazzo. I highly recommend the arancini to start, and a strong finish of the spinach and roasted garlic tortellini with ricotta, mushrooms, and medjool dates. To. Die. For.
If you're in the area to peep some blossoms - here is a list of places you should try:
Frederick Folks
Go to Volt. Sit at the bar. Order an amazing cocktail and eat the burger from the snack menu with a side of fries. Leave happy.
